Thank you

Hi veteran families, veteran here

Even though today is about remembering the fallen and their sacrifice and the sacrifices of those who have served I want you to know that your sacrifices are also seen and appreciated. I also want to say thank you to all of you family members who support us and put up with all the fallout not only on important days like today but every other day of the year.

We aren't always fun to be around or easy to deal with, so for those of you here beside us I want to acknowledge all of you and your efforts.

There has been a big focus on removing the stigma of seeking help for us veterans, so I want you all to know there also shouldn't be any stigma, shame or embarrassment of family members seeking support either, whether it be psychological help, help around the house, help finding hobbies, exercise, dieticians - all the stuff that us veterans are entitled to, you are all deserving of that help too.

Military wives are known for putting their own lives and careers on hold to support husbands, raise children, move around and leave jobs and friends every couple of years and those sacrifices are huge, and sometimes never properly acknowledged. Alcohol and/or drug abuse, emotional/financial/physical abuse are also things that families should never have to put up with but are unfortunately quite common. If you are dealing with these things please never feel alone, there are too many others who have been in the same situation and asking for help is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about either.

Hopefully the support and advice on this forum makes you feel more appreciated and seen and less alone.

Thank YOU for your service.

Re: Thank you

@Azalea Thank you so much! I know a lot of family members definitely don't feel seen sometimes, so it means a lot.
