Looking after ourselves

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Hi @Adge  I'm not sure - but funny you ask as I was literally just wondering that myself - they have only just popped up last few days - I'll check first thing tomorrow morning and report back 👍

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Just beautiful @Sophie1 thank you for sharing 🌸

Re: Self care by growing a garden

More weed pulling here today.... I consider weeds to be "free mulch", but ooohhh, sometimes the spring oversupply is a bit much! 😛

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Did a bit of weeding here too @Smc, other jobs included fertilising the lemon tree and planting another ranunculus that has flowered.

The running bamboo has started to shoot again so hit it with a round of weedkiller, hoping I can get on top of it and eradicate it before next autumn.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Adge  Just reporting back on the Hyacinth- it doesn't have a strong scent yet - maybe a slight scent in the mid afternoon but nothing super strong and absolutely no scent in the morning - will keep checking tho as it matures maybe it's will change ?

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I have found the scent of hyacinths to be overpowering indoors @Sophie1 .

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Former-Member @Adge @Sophie1... Hyacinths and Grape Hyacinths are different species altogether. (Hyacinthus and Muscarii.) I know Hyacinths are strongly scented, Grape Hyacinths less so, although some species varieties have a perfume. The common blue one is pretty mild though.

One of my favourite garden mind-images from a few years ago was a male Blue Wren hopping around among a patch of Grape Hyacinths. So many vibrant blues in one spot! 🙂

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Well spotted there @Smc I was referring to the true hyacinth in relation to smell.

Sounds like a really beautiful day @Shaz51 with positive spin offs of flowers for the future.
